Laundry- The never ending story

Do you find laundry to be very overwhelming and your most hated chore? Well, you're not the only one. Studies claim that laundry and ironing are the most disliked chores among rural and urban households. More than 85 percent of Americans, according to the Census Bureau's 2020 American Housing Survey, can do it without leaving their homes. Nonetheless, despite the best efforts of technology, the problem persists. There is always more laundry to be done. Laundry is time consuming as well. With a lot of people spending a lot of time in laundry, there seems to be a lot of scope for making lives easier.

Washing clothes is an essential part of daily life. Laundry is a time-consuming and laborious task that almost always falls on women in many cultures. According to a World Bank study conducted in 19 countries, rural women spend an average of six hours per day on domestic work such as cooking, collecting firewood, and washing clothes. There has been little focus on how laundry is done and how it can be made easier. Did you know an average person spends around 9 hours a week on laundry. Yes, 9 hours. These 9 hours could be spent way more efficiently and effectively when compared to doing laundry. The current society does not realize how big of a problem laundry can be. A lot of factors can be affected by just laundry. Without laundry , the value of a product can decrease. Wearing clean and tidy clothes defines the person who is wearing that clothing.

There seems to be no positive side to this don't you think? Well, there is. Here are a few tips and tricks to make your laundry worries go away.

  • Decide when you want to do your laundry. We can't avoid it, but if you make a plan, you're much more likely to stick to it AND keep it from becoming overwhelming.

Make a note of when you want to do your darks, lights, or your child's clothes. Include loads for towels, sheets, and blankets as well. Do you need to do two loads of towels per week or just one? Consider how frequently you want to wash your sheets.

  • Rather than waiting until the weekend to do your laundry, consider scheduling one load every other day throughout the week. Then two loads on Sunday. You will not only avoid overburdening yourself, but you will also have time to enjoy your weekend! Nothing beats folding laundry on a Sunday afternoon when you could be out having fun.

  • When it comes to laundry, don't waste time running around the house looking for dirty clothes. Make hampers, baskets, or even drop-off locations that visually indicate that something needs to be washed.

  • When it comes to organising a laundry day, nothing is more aggravating than having a load finish in the washer but the load in the dryer still has 40 minutes to go.

Plan your first load of the day to be the one that dries the fastest.

  • You don't have to sit in your laundry room while your machine does all of its work. You can multitask and make good use of your time while doing laundry.

If you only have a half-hour to wash one load of clothes, you can use that time to make

Your bed or do some other activity.

  • Machines, too, have a life. The same way you take care of everything in your life, you must also take care of your machines. This will extend their lives.

Lint from clothing can clog your washer and dryer.

  • Don't overload your machines with clothes that they can't handle. Maintain proportion. These are just two facts; you must maintain your machines according to their brand.

  • If you don't have time to iron your shirts, hang them in the bathroom while you take a hot shower. The steam will aid in the removal of wrinkles from your clothing. Removing wrinkles will give a nice look to the clothes you wear.

  • If you do this, you will never have to deal with the heartbreak of shrunken jeans: Put them in the dryer for 10 minutes on medium or low heat. That is sufficient to soften them.

Take them out while they are still wet and hang them on a hanger from the ankles. When fully dry, the weight of the semi-wet jeans will pull out the wrinkles and keep them at the proper length.
